Veronica Roth
It has been told to her descendants that she and her sister, Christina, were orphaned in Russia and lived with one of their grandmothers.
It seems from ship records that Veronica came to Canada with her Uncle ( Joseph C. Schachtel), and Christina had to stay behind due to an eye ailment. It is said that Veronica and Christina were very poor in Russia and desperately needed to be saved from starvation.

Peter Beilman
Many families from Russia left for a better future for their families. Peter choose to go to Argentina and then later to Canada.
