The Gartner Story

Joseph Peter Gartner compiled this detailed assortment of genealogical research and pictures for a Family Reunion which took place July 1, 1984.

 

Included in this book is a brief history that outlines his Gartner ancestors reasons for wanting to immigrate from Germany to Russia and some of what they endured while living in Russia. 

 

He also wrote about specific details of his parents and some of their friends journey from Russia to Canada in 1907.  From his own experiences and the recollections of his elders he illustrates the emotional impact and hard work that accompanies settling in a new land. 

 

He gathered about 100 pictures from all of his parents children and wrote about each families lives in Canada.  Included in each family chapter is a hand-drawn family tree that notes names, birth dates, death dates, spouse names, and wedding dates.

 

He created a family tree that includes all the Gartner kin that immigrated to Canada.
