Surname Variations: Sauer, Zauer, Auer
Kornelius Sauer was a Catholic farmer who arrived to Volmer on July 18, 1766 from Bamberg. With him was his wife Anna Elisabetha and their son Johannes. According to the 1766 Original Settlers List for Volmer Kornelius was 38, Anna was 35, and their son was 1 at arrival to the colony.
In the 1798 Volmer Census this families name was translated as Aur (Hauer?). It took me sometime to make the connection that this was the same family. Johannes is listed as being 32 (b: 1766) which adds up to the above Johannes. Johannes has a wife, Anna Maria Hochstadter; 30) as well as many children. This family can be found in the Volmer Database.
