My Grandfather was George Rolheiser and grandmother was Catherine Schamber.
The little info that I have is that my grandparents departed Rotterdam (Netherlands/Holland) on October 22, 1912 and arrived in Quebec on November 6th 1912. The ship list may be inaccurate my mom Helen Rolheiser 89 said. But the list lists Wilhelm as 54 and Elizabeth as 55 so you do the math as to how old they would be. George and Katherine are listed as being both 34 at the time.
All of George and Katherines' children were on the ship (SS Palanza) with them Maria (Mary) 11, Froanz (Frank) 9, Rosalia (Rose) 7, Alexander (Alex) 4, George 3, Barbara (infant) and Anna (Annie) which was a newborn. Katherine (Katie) was later born here in Canada as was my dad Joseph and then Jacob (Jack). Emilie Rolheiser daughter to Wilhelm and Elizabeth was 16 at the time on the ship with her brother Jacob 7. They were brother and sister to my grandfather George Rolheiser. Emilie (Emelia) was born May 2, 1896 in Russia, she died June 6 1965 in Primate Saskatchewan.
My mother's maiden name was Schiebelbien (Schiefelbein) and the Schiebelbiens originally lived in Husaren. Their origin in Marienwender Preussen. According to the Naturalisation Act certificate that belonged to my grandfather, George Rolheiser was from Kamenka in the Province of Saratoff, Empire of Russian, NOW of Park....this is exactly what it says. I dont' now if you will ever be able to find info beyond Wilhelm and Elizabeth and the names of Anna Mary Kohlman and John Peter Schamber but if you do I would love to hear it. My dad Joe Rolheiser was very young compared to his other brothers and sisters, he never talked about his parents much. My mom Helen Rolheiser knew more about their history or at least talked about it than my dad did.
If anyone has any information for Janice please email her!
