1766 Volmer Original Settlers List

This book is devoted to examining the entire immigration process  starting from the original invitation to the potential immigrants thru to their social economic development and how they were treated by the native population and the Russian government.

Also in this book are rich sources of archival material which include: a list of the German Colonies, Structure of the Parishes, Original settlers lists for:  Seewald; Kautz; Schuck; Leichtling; Kamenka; Volmer; Preuss; Merkel; Rothammel; and Kratzke.  As well as the ship list of Ivan Kuhlberg (Colonists arriving from Lübeck on the ship “Anna Katharina” in May, June, and August, 1766). An alternate spelling of the surnames was also given when the translation was in doubt.

I highly recommend this book to all researchers of the Volga Region.  It is a small price to pay for a solid understanding of what our ancestors endured.
