The Census Registrar lists the number of foreigners who lived in Volmer as of December 13, 1834. Listed are males & females with an indication of their ages, and notes were made about the age of the males who were recorded in the 1815 Census. Deaths for only the males were recorded, some even listed the exact year. In addition, any movement by the males between villages was also noted. Maiden names of the wives and their colony of origin were not listed by this census recorder.
Unique to all other Census Reports, the translator/editor; Angela Gartner also referenced how each families surnames were spelled in the previous Census Reports and sourced the Census Reports by village and year. This is especially useful because the work of tracking family movements and matching them from document to document has been done for you. Alternate spellings of the surnames are also given when the translation was in doubt. |
