Researching Your Own Volmer Family

Whether you are just starting or you have been researching your own family for some time I have listed some research ideas for all.  The following links are tools I use all the time:

· I would 1st start with looking at your family name page on this website.  There are two pages that are indexes to the family pages on this website.

· Original Settlers (this is a list of only the families that originally settled Volmer)

· I am able to create a narrative report for some families.

· Family Page Index (this list includes all the family names found on all of the Volmer Census Documents)

· You may find purchasing the following documents helpful:

· 1798 Volmer Census (can be purchased from AHSGR)

· 1834 Volmer Census (can be purchased from Angela Gartner)

· 1850 Volmer Census (can be purchased from Angela Gartner)

· There are many websites that I use on a very frequent basis:

· The Odessa Website  (search all of the categories, but the most valuable to me has been the War Records and they have records of families that remained in Russia.

· Roots Web Website  (most families who are researching their families have posted their family trees on this site.

· Family Search Website (this website has many records and documents to search)

· List Of Volga German Refugees: Minsk to Frankfurt/Oder Dec. 9, 1922

· Refugees Arriving in the Heimkehrlager at Frankfurt/Oder in 1922

· RAWK  Website—this site is very slow, but well worth the information

· There are some books that have been very helpful:

· Prairie Views from Eye Hill—MacklinCopyright 1992, Macklin History Book Society.

· Prairie Legacy—Grosswerder and Surrounding Districts, Compiled by the Grosswerder and Districts New Horizons Heritage Group.  Printed by McIntosh Publishing Co. Ltd. North Battleford, Sask.

· Our heritage recalled : Prelate, Saskatchewan, 1908-1990, Prelate History Book Committee, Prelate, Saskatchewan, 1990

· From the Hills to the Boarder—I don’t have a copy, and can’t find one online. I would be forever grateful if I was to be given a copy.

· Family Report and a Family Tree Chart:

· I can create both reports for most Volmer and Schuck families by using the information that I have collected in my Volmer Database.

· Email me to see if we can create one for your family.
